Introduction

I’m Avishka Perera, currently a second-year student at Deakin University. I completed my Diploma in Information Technology at Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology and currently I’m following Bachelor of Information Technology majoring in Mobile and Apps development at Deakin University. As an IT student, I’m interested in latest technologies such as AR & VR development, Cloud Application Development and AI technologies etc. But for now, I’m focusing on Application Development and hope to learn about others in the future.

As for my career interests, I’m interested in starting my career as a junior software developer. The main reason I chose to become a Software Developer is becuase, it’s one of the jobs that need creativity which use technical skills. I love the idea of being able to solve real-world problems and create new thing using the power of programming. Mostly, As I enjoy coding, I enjoy working with a team, discussing problems and solutions with others too. Because of these reasons, I think the best role for me in the IT industry is as a Software Developer.

Skills Audit

As for my soft skills, I’m good at teamwork.  I enjoy working with a team, discussing problems and solutions with others. I’m good at self-management.  I always take responsibility for my actions and manage my personal life and work life well. I am adaptable. I can adjust to new conditions very quickly and learn and improve my self quickly.

As for the skills I need to improve communication, presenting, networking, leadership and planning and organizing are few to mention.
